May 7, 2013

BCTN announced today that it had acquired 100% of Euroports Containers Meerhout NV (“ECM”) from Euroports. Meerhout, which is situated on the Albert Canal in Belgium, is the largest inland container terminal in the Benelux region.

“The Meerhout terminal is an excellent complement to BCTN’s terminals in the Netherlands,” said Rien Geurts, the Managing Director of BCTN Nederland. “The management team and staff of Meerhout will remain in place and manage the terminal under its new name, BCTN Meerhout.”

Philippe Govers, the former Managing Director of ECM who has been named Managing Director of BCTN België, said, “We are pleased that we are becoming part of a larger inland terminal group. The wider network will provide benefits to our customers and growth opportunities for us.”

BCTN is the leading inland barge terminal owner and operator in the Benelux region, with the capacity to handle more than 1,000,000 TEUs annually. BCTN operates terminals in Nijmegen, den Bosch, Venray in the Netherlands and Meerhout in Belgium and has interests in Container Terminal Twente and the Pernis Container Terminal in the Netherlands. BCTN’s terminals transport containers to and from the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp and Zeebrugge. In partnership with the Port of Rotterdam Authority, BCTN is developing a new barge terminal at Alblasserdam in the Netherlands with a capacity of 200,000 TEUs.

BCTN is 100% owned by investment funds managed by Alinda Capital Partners.
